Statement of Mission

To provide competitive playing opportunities for Alexandria City youth interested in playing interscholastic volleyball through the Junior Olympic Volleyball program of CHRVA; the Chesapeake Region of USA-Volleyball. The initial focus of the club is working with elementary and middle school age youth. The primary objective of the program is to teach volleyball skills and tactics, promote fair play and enable players to successfully compete for roster positions on their high school volleyball teams.

Club Organization

For the 2018-2019 season the Alexandria Titans Volleyball Club (ATVC) program plans to establish teams at the 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 age levels subject to the availability of qualified players and coaches. Based on the availability of coaches and practice time, the club is prepared to field 4-5 teams with rosters between 10-12 players. The ATVC program has a collaborative approach to coaching. While there is a designated Head Coach for each team, our coaching staff collaborates

by working with each team and on occasion, individual players to develop skills and techniques.

Team Schedule

ATVC teams will generally practice twice a week and play 3-4 single day tournaments between January and the CHRVA Regional Championships in April.  Single day tournaments are full day commitments of time on either a Saturday or Sunday. In addition, ATVC teams will play in one multiday tournament either locally or within driving distance. Teams should expect to participate in an average of one tournament a month from January – April. In general teams will practice twice a week on Thursday OR Friday evenings PLUS an additional practice on Sunday afternoon. Practices will be held each week except when the schools are closed due to weather or holidays. The ATVC will secure gymnasium space for team practices from the City of Alexandria's Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs.  Practices will be held in the Minnie Howard campus gymnasium of TC Williams High School but the practice venue could change based on the recreation department’s schedule of other youth sport programming.

Team Tryout Schedule

Tryouts will be held in the gym at the Minnie Howard gymnasium at 3801 W Braddock Rd, Alexandria, VA 22302. There will be a tryout fee of $20 per player to cover the costs of the gym rental and other fees. Payment will be accepted on the day of tryouts. We accept checks or cash but not credit cards at this time.

U12s - November 3, 2018          1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (Players born on or after September 1, 2006)
U13s - November 3, 2018           3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Players born on or after September 1, 2005)

U14s - November 10, 2018         1:00 PM to 3:00 PM (Players born on or after September 1, 2004)
U15/16s - November 10, 2018    3:00 PM to 5:00 PM (Players born on or after September 1, 2002)

Rules of USA Volleyball require that all players must be members of USA Volleyball in order to participate in tryouts. Information about USA Volleyball membership can be found on-line at

Players interested in trying out for a team need to complete and submit the tryout registration form not later than
November 2, 2018 (12/13s) and November 9, 2018 (14/15/16s)  You can download the form below.


Only players who have submitted the registration form in advance of the tryout will be eligible to tryout for a team. Completed registration forms should be emailed to [email protected]

Players will be notified via email within 24 hours after the tryout if they have been selected to join an Alexandria Titans VB team for the 2018-2019 season. Alexandria Titans teams will have between 10-12 players.  Each Titan team may include up to two Practice Players who will practice with the team but not travel to tournaments except as substitutes for absent tournament players.  Based on playing experience and the need to balance team rosters, some players may be asked to play up an age level. 

Players invited to join a Titan’s team will have until the end of the CHRVA Open Tryout Period to accept or decline a team invitation. The Open Tryout Period for 12s and 13s ends at 11pm, November 7, 2018. The Open Tryout Period for 14s, 15s and 16s ends at 11pm, November 14, 2018.

Players may also be waitlisted and will be contacted if space becomes available. Players on the waitlist will be called up based on the availability of player positions and the player's relative skill and commitment to contribute to a competitive team. Invitations to players on the waiting list will be extended via email if space on a team roster becomes available.

Estimated Player Fees

Player Fees for the 2018-2019 season are tentatively as follows:

Returning Players:  $1,150   
Returning Practice Players:  $575.00
     New Players:  $1,300       

New Practice Players:  $650.00

Player fees will include the cost of new uniforms (if needed), practice space, equipment, tournament fees, coaching, adult registrations and administrative expenses.  In the event a team participates in a multiday tournament that requires a hotel stay, the hotel costs will be the responsibility of each player’s family.  Every player will receive a new ball as part of the player fee and is expected to bring it to practice. At least one-half of the player fee is due within 48 hours after acceptance of a team invitation. The balance of the player fees will be due January 2, 2018.
